More than 25 years ago, ING arrived in Spain with a different idea of what a bank could be. At a time when branches were everywhere, ING chose a digital-first approach centred on simplicity, transparency and helping people manage their money more easily. What began as a challenger has grown into a bank serving almost five million customers and has been the most recommended bank in Spain for nearly two decades.

That journey entered a new chapter with the opening of a new flagship in the heart of Madrid.

Flagship store Spain

Our new flagship is ING's largest branch in Spain and the first to bring Retail Banking customers and Private Banking clients together under one roof.

ING has designed its new flagship around a simple insight: while customers increasingly value the convenience of digital banking, they also want access to expert advice when making some of life's biggest financial decisions.

“Banking is evolving, and customers increasingly expect to combine the convenience of digital services with access to expert advice whenever they need it. This flagship has been designed precisely to respond to that new reality and reflects the journey ING has made in Spain over recent years: becoming a more complete bank, capable of supporting customers across all their financial needs through a proposition that is simple, agile and people-centred,” said Alfonso Tolcheff, CEO of ING in Spain and Portugal.

The opening comes as ING continues to expand the ways it supports customers in Spain. In the coming weeks, ING will launch private banking, with business banking set to follow in 2027.

About the flagship

Located in Madrid's Plaza de Colón, one of the city's best-known landmarks, the flagship is expected to welcome around 800 visitors a day. It is ING's largest branch in Spain and the first to bring Retail Banking customers and Private Banking clients together in one location.
