ING has again been awarded the world’s best bank in Australia, Germany, Poland and Spain by Forbes.

The recognition follows a survey of more than 50,000 people across 34 countries. Survey participants shared how satisfied they were with each bank and whether they would recommend it to others, and rated each on trustworthiness, terms and conditions, digital services, customer service and financial advice.

It is the second consecutive year that ING has been recognised as the world’s best bank.

In an article announcing the winners, Forbes said ING had been concentrating on offering personalised experiences through new technologies.

“This includes using generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in chatbots to improve response times to customer requests and offering loans within minutes based on transactional data,” the article said.

Mobile first

ING’s head of Retail banking Pinar Abay told the magazine that customers continue to become increasingly mobile-first.

“More and more of our retail customers are using only their mobile phone to use our banking services.

“The digital banking trend is likely to continue this year, and customers will continue to raise their expectations on their banking experience across all channels,” said Pinar.

Pinar also mentioned ING’s wish to help consumers decrease their environmental footprint by offering financing for green-building projects.

“We focus on financing sustainable homes and renovations through secured and unsecured lending and aim to offer sustainable lending products in all relevant markets by 2025,” she said.

Two awards in a day for Germany

Meanwhile, ING in Germany was also voted the most beloved bank among its customers according to "€uro" magazine (online article, German only). Some 94,000 German customers took part in the survey.
