ING Economist named Finance Minister in Poland

The Polish government announced the naming of Mateusz Szczurek as Finance minister in the cabinet of prime-minister Donald Tusk. Sczurek (38) currently is ING Bank’s Chief Economist for Central and eastern Europe, based in Warsaw. “We are honored to receive the information that Mateusz has been appointed. Mateusz has high qualifications and competences and has worked very closely with the Management Board of ING Bank Śląski, who highly perceive cooperation with him. He often met with investors and entrepreneurs,” said Malgorzata Kołakowska, CEO of ING Bank Śląski.
Mateusz Szczurek is an experienced expert of many years – working for ING Bank Śląski for more than 16 years, initially as Economist and further as Chief Economist for Poland. Three years ago he was appointed Chief Economist at ING Group responsible for Central and Eastern Europe. He holds degrees in Economics from Warsaw University and the University of Sussex.
