Marnix van Stiphout: “It all starts with a satisfied client”

In an interview with Fintech Finance, ING’s chief operations officer (COO) Marnix van Stiphout said there were a whole set of ‘yields’ on the back of our efforts to satisfy clients.

“It all starts with satisfied clients. Less friction gets them satisfied but also means new clients coming in. Clients are the ambassadors in the market to attract new ones,” he said.

In an 18-minute interview recorded in London, Marnix also spoke about ING’s innovative nature saying that ING, compared to other banks, is a very open place, well-known for going to the market with new ideas and opening up new ways of doing business rather than just sticking to the status quo.

“We are innovative… we are less stuck in our ways and that attracts people with a slightly different attitude towards life and towards banking,” he said.

Marnix also talked about ING’s digitalisation efforts, shared technology, the use of AI and GenAI, ING Hubs and attracting talents to ING.
