ING Collection in Italy
ING Collection in Italy
A special exhibition organised by ING Art Management and museum curator Flavio Arensi opened at the end of February in the Palazzo Leone da Perego in Legnano, close to the Italian city of Milan. It has attracted many visitors and received much media attention since. Realismo Olandese (Dutch Realism) is the first exhibition dedicated to Dutch contemporary figurative art ever to be shown in Italy, the undisputed cradle of European art and culture.
The exhibition offers the Italian public an overview of the highly rated school of Dutch contemporary figurative art. Some 60 paintings, all from ING’s corporate art collection, were selected to reflect the development of, and various movements within, this genre.
Originally introduced simply to provide a stimulating and agreeable working environment for employees, and to support the creative thinking process in the office, over the years the ING Collection has grown into a leading figurative art collection of museum calibre.
The Realismo Olandese exhibition serves the dual purpose of giving the Italian art public the opportunity to enjoy Dutch contemporary figurative art, while raising awareness of Dutch artists abroad. The exhibition runs until 20 April 2008.
More information about the exhibition is available on the museum’s website, where you can also find an English press release.
