Going to where the talent is

Chief operating officer Marnix van Stiphout has told the English-based publication, The Fintech Magazine that ING’s hubs are a crucial part of the bank’s growth strategy.

Commenting on the talent crunch that many companies are experiencing, Marnix said ING’s approach protected it from skills shortages and made it a front-runner in adopting AI and GenAI.

ING has a global network of hubs employing more than 12,500 people in five countries (the Philippines, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Turkey). ING recently announced the opening of a new Hub in Madrid, Spain.

The magazine stated that like many companies, ING saw that the skilled workforce it needed wasn’t necessarily where it needed them, while talented people with the potential to be great at the work it needed them to do – often couldn’t find employment locally that matched their qualifications, skills and ambitions.

“So ING went to them in countries where the company already had a presence and was doing business, and set up what they are calling ING Hubs,” the magazine said.

Marnix said one differentiator in attracting the right talent to the bank was that ING is innovative and less stuck in its ways, which attracts people that have a slightly different attitude towards life and banking.

The article goes on to detail ING’s approach to AI and Gen AI. You can read the full article by scrolling through to page 10.
