Gerrit Stoelinga to become ING regional head Wholesale Banking Asia
7 July 2016
Gerrit Stoelinga, currently ING Wholesale Banking’s global head of International Trade & Commodity Finance (ITEF) and co-head of Structured Finance, will become regional head Wholesale Banking Asia on 1 September 2016.
In this role, Stoelinga will be responsible for the strategy and performance of ING’s Wholesale Banking business across 13 Asian markets.
Stoelinga replaces Mark Newman, who was appointed regional head Wholesale Banking Asia in 2012 after having spent 20 years working for ING in the region in a variety of roles.
Newman now has responsibility for ING’s retail banking business in Asia (ex-Australia), including responsibility for ING’s strategic partnerships with Bank of Beijing in China, Kotak Mahindra Bank in India and TMB in Thailand.
Bill Connelly, member of the Management Board Banking and head of ING Wholesale Banking said: "I would like to thank Mark for his dedication and contribution made in the various roles he fulfilled in our Wholesale Bank. Our Asian franchise has developed into a major contributor to Wholesale Banking under his leadership."
Gerrit Stoelinga joined ING in 1999. He has since built up extensive experience in lending services with a particular focus on structured finance, both in the front-office and in risk management.
In 2010, Stoelinga was appointed global head of Structured Acquisition Finance, establishing this business as a top-three global provider, before taking on his current responsibilities in January 2015. As global head of ITEF, Stoelinga has been managing teams in 17 locations across the globe, including Japan, Singapore, South Korea and China.
