Barbaros Uygun to head ING in Austria

Barbaros Uygun, the former head of Retail at ING in Turkey, has been appointed as CEO of ING in Austria.

He will start his new role on 1 March, subject to regulatory approval, and brings a wealth of banking and retail experience to ING in Austria.
“Barbaros has been an effective member of Turkey’s leadership team for almost six years, helping to transform ING there into one of the best digital banks in the market. I am confident his experience will further strengthen our Austrian business,” said Aris Bogdaneris, head of ING Challengers & Growth Markets.
Barbaros succeeds Luc Truyens, whose appointment as head of SME and Mid-Corporates segment we announced in December. In turn, Alper Gökgöz took on the role of head of Retail in Turkey.
