The Mandarin’s Three Dreams – ING Cultural Centre

The Mandarin's Tree Dreams

The ING Cultural Centre in Brussels is pleased to host The Mandarin’s Three Dreams, courtesy of ING Belgium. The theme of this exhibition is the artistic and intellectual world of the mandarins of 17th and 18th century China. Recruited by the emperor to govern his provinces and districts, the mandarins formed a cultural elite.

Art and friendship, love, nature and freedom: these were the three dreams in which the mandarins could indulge. Bronze, jade, porcelain and ceramic objects portray the elegant décor in which they gave free rein to their creativity, endowing painting and calligraphy with their most exalted works.

ING’s preferential partner for this exhibition is Beijing’s Capital Museum. Apart from the exceptional collection of objects from this museum, the exhibition also features works of art from other collections in Beijing, Europe and the United States.

The exhibition runs until 14 February 2010 at the ING Cultural Centre, Place Royale 6 (Mont des Arts district) in Brussels (Belgium). Visit the website for tickets, opening times and further information.
